The Diversity Paradox: When difference helps, when it hinders, and how to navigate

Additional Course Information

Short Description

Is diversity at work always a good thing?
From aircraft production and satellite manufacturing to MRO and airports, today's aerospace sector depends on collaboration between people with different technical expertise, sociodemographic backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

While diversity is widely celebrated, evidence shows that its impact depends largely on how it is managed. Diversity can spark innovation, broaden perspectives, and improve outcomes. It can also lead to misunderstandings, tensions, and slower decision-making when differences are not effectively bridged.

This workshop goes beyond slogans to explore the diversity paradox: why difference can be both an asset and a challenge. Through discussion of academic inputs, reflection, and practical examples, participants will learn how inclusion transforms diversity from a source of friction into a source of strength, and how leaders, educators, and team members can create conditions where diverse groups perform at their best.
